JETS

Fall 2011-Winter 2012

What is Rockets?

Rockets is a recreational team program offered to students in High Beginner and Intermediate classes.  The Rockets learn and perform the Level 3 USAG routines.  They meet twice weekly for 1.5 hours each practice. They practice from 6:00-7:30 pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

What are the benefitsof joining Rockets?

Rockets is designed for the students who want more out of gymnastics than a recreational class.  It is a team.  The girls will learn how to work together, how to set goals, and how to have fun while getting stronger and more flexible.  They have a team leotard and warm-up suit for exhibitions and competitions.  They have a team “mailbox” for U.G.I. correspondence. They have a skill chart and prize days.  We also have some themed practices such as “Wacky Hair Day” and “Pajama Day.”

What are the costs?

The monthly tuition is $160.00 (less expensive than taking two 1.5 hour classes).  The yearly activity fee is $85.00 due in June. This cost is pro-rated when you join at other times in the calendar year (if you recently paid the $45.00 class registration fee then a portion may be used towards the pro-rated amount) .  The uniform is $130.00.  Meet entry fees are $45.00 (Championship meet is 55.00.)

What will the competitions be like?

The Rockets will be competing in a local recreational league.  Everyone  competes all four Olympic Events (vault, bars, beam, and floor). She receives a score and a corresponding achievement ribbon for each event.  In other words, the color of the ribbon is determined by the score from the judge.  Instead of individual placement or team awards, the gymnasts receive a gift from the host gym except at Championships.  The Championship Meet marks the end of the season.  T-shirts and 4 medals/1 trophy will be given to each athlete at the Championship Meet.

How long is the commitment?

I would like the commitment to be for a season.  Currently, I would like to see the Rockets who join in the Fall session to stay on team through the end of the school-year.  The recreational team is offered year-round but you may come and go as you choose.

What if we miss a practice?

You may do a make-up in any High Beginner class that has space available.  Please schedule make-ups with the office as you currently do.

What is Jets?

Jets is a Recreational Team!  This program is offered to students in  Intermediate and Advanced.  The novice Jets learn and perform the Level 4 USAG routines and the experienced Jets create their own routines and perform at the Prep-Optional Level.  They meet twice weekly for 3.0 hours each practice.   Practice is on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00-9:00 pm.

What are the benefits of joining Jets?

Jets is designed for those students who want more out of gymnastics than a recreational class.  It is a team.  The girls learn how to work together, how to set goals, and how to have fun while getting stronger and more flexible.  They have a team leotard for exhibitions and competitions.  They have a team “mailbox” for U.G.I. correspondence.  They have the opportunity to compete in meets as part of the Greater Columbus Gymnastics League.

What are the costs?

Tuition is paid on a monthly basis.  Tuition cost is $237.00 and is due before the first of the month.  The yearly (June-June) activity fee is $80.00 and will be prorated based on when you join.  The team uniform (leotard and warm-up) is roughly $130.00.  Meet entry fees are usually $45.00 (the Championship Meet is $55.00).
